AMS Transfer Immigration

Hi all,

Sorry for posting this here, but I thought this would be where most people would have answers to my question.

If I'm transiting through Schiphol Airport (UK-AMS-USA), will I have to clear immigration? Or would it be just be like a transit through Singapore Changi (no clearing customs if having an onward flight)? If not, would people need to get a transit visa?

I'll be travelling with some friends to the US via AMS and just wondered as my friends are not EU citizens and they would need a schengen visa if they were going to the Netherlands. In this case, its just a transit and connecting onto one of the NW/KL flights.

Thanks in anticipation.
