I'm a woman... and I have no problem with the 20 kg limit, except when I'm taking lots of presents or bringing back lots of books (that's when I'm grateful for the extra I get as a Skyteam Elite Plus). Many pairs of shoes? Why? I don't think I've ever travelled with more than three (one casual, one smart, one pair of sandals). I rarely take dresses except when I'm going to something like a wedding - it's usually a skirt or two and a few tops so that I can combine things... and I make sure I take neutral colours so that I don't have to worry about having a matching pair of shoes for every outfit.
I realise that lower weight limits are a problem for those who need to travel with specialist gear (such as the climbing equipment mentioned in a previous post - or things like "baby gear"), but for ordinary travel I really can't see any need to pack more than 20kg.
