TLS "do" & Airbus factory tour

Sadly, this proposal is now cancelled. Tours are very popular, and it has proven not possible to choose a Saturday date to fit in with the majority. The number of people able to make a proposed alternative Monday date wasn't sufficiently high to be feasible. Alternatives to this are to wait until ~April 2007 when chrissxb is considering a tour, with the added benefit of some gourmet dining.

I've been thinking for a long time that a tour of the Airbus factory might be a good excuse for an I-class TP run. Looking right now I see that LGW-TLS is pricing out at £193.10 (or £179.10 for BA Shareholders) for a random date in June, of course netting 80 TP's as well. If travelling in the back of the bus, the same journey can be made at around £80-£100, albeit with no lounge access, TP's or in-flight champagne .

Please have a look at the website of Taxiway who are the company who conduct the tours of the Airbus factory, for seemingly reasonable prices. Although shown, they no longer do tours of the A330/A340 facility, instead concentrating resources on the A380 facility. A few comments stand out on the website; Pre-booking (for groups): (many months in advance are required) and Cameras and camcorders are not allowed on the site .

BA fly two or three times daily to TLS from LGW, the summer schedule from April is as follows:
Code:
BA7951 LGW-TLS 07:15-10:00 Daily
BA7953 LGW-TLS 13:45-16:30 Daily
BA7955 LGW-TLS 20:10-22:50 Daily

BA7950 TLS-LGW 06:55-07:45 Daily
BA7952 TLS-LGW 10:35-11:20 Daily
BA7954 TLS-LGW 17:05-17:50 Daily
Given this schedule, it would seem that a day trip can easily be done on a weekday any time; with a Saturday day-trip possible after 22 April. I guess it would be useful to see which of these options are preferred by those interested. However, the first Saturday date available for a tour of both A380 line and Concorde is in December. If we want it to happen sooner, then we need to dispense with the Concorde visit, or go on a weekday.

I'm working on the basis of a day-trip, although we could split and have some day-trippers, and some weekenders. TripAdvisor lists some hotels to stay at, and there does appear to be an airport Sofitel and CP.

Current tentative plan is Monday 10 July (no Concorde tour, 11:45 A380 line). Please let me know whether this will work for you. Travel dates can fit around this; a day trip is possible, and the weekend 8/9 July could be combined too.
