Just received a letter from Hertz in Italy claiming that we returned our rental car with damage to one side and they have charged our plat AMEX for 500 Euros.

The minivan was pretty beat up when we got it, and there was no accident or other incidental damage. The only thing I can think of is that we had the concierge at the Hotel de Russie return it to Hertz for us after we checked in.

Do I have any options other than paying for this? It seems like a scam to me.
