I bought a computer from PC world a few years back...a limited offer for a discontinued top o line (now no longer top of line) machine. They charged my card, and 10 days later when I didnt get the laptop, they refunded it. I said "Wheres my PC" They said they were out. I said "you charged my card..u must deliver or give me another model of similar stats at same price!" they said "no".

I got a refund, but nothing for my time/interest...should I have asked for miles? I was angry but in the end, nothing lost except my time. Same thing happened to you, except it was for safety sake, and mine was due to the companies problem. I let it go and bought from them a month later when they had another low price.

It does stink, and I feel your pain, but I don't think an airline should pay "punitive" damages due to yielding to safety. That would be a BAD precident to set, as carriers would be financially motivated to pull a WN at MDW more often...to me, better safe than sorry any day of the week.
