I am not checking any bags and was wondering whether or not if I show up at the gate for the 8:10am flight on time if I would be able to standby for the flight or get on it without paying too much? I like the Terraces lounge but would rather save 5 hours!
Unless you are on a flexible or semi-flexible ticket the chances of you getting on the earlier flight are very remote. The concept of sameday standby does not exist as such in Europe. Status does not alter this.

If you are on a semi-flexible you may be able to pay a fee (GBP30-GBP50 depending on ticket) plus any difference in fare. For example; if you are booked in "B" but there are is no availability in that bucket you will be charged the difference between "B" and the next highest available fare class plus the change fee.

Do a search and you will find that this has been asked many times before.
