Many non-US based airlines will do this for first/business and elite pax. LH even takes it one further with their first class car service from lounge to plane right before doors are closed - you are literally guaranteed to be the last pax to board.

This system doesnt work as well for US based airlines due to allowing much more carryon (so boarding last may not have enough room).
