I can't speak for AMS or BRU, I'm only speaking of flights (back when DL codeshared with SN) via BRU to cities in the UK. The fares were always the same, winter or summer.
I haven't had trouble using SWUs to Europe. I used one this past summer to Dublin in July. I also used one last Christmas to Paris!
