Heading to HKG from NYC...which is the better option in terms of flight experience:

AA first class on a 777 to NRT then connecting to Cathay business class to HKG. I don’t mind the connection or layover

OR

Business class direct to HKG on Cathay?


I assume also from a mile earning perspective there isn't much diff.
