Food on the return comes from the QF kitchens so that could explain the difference in quality. Service - the crew might have exhausted themselves partying in MEL the night b4. The last time I flew MEL-SIN was in Dec 2004 and on SQ 228, and I found the service to be pretty good, except the IFE which crashed. It wasn't as memorable as my last flight in that nothing special happened, but then I was in a window seat then, which means I might have had less 'access' to the crew, and was without any status then. I dont know how much *G means onboard SQ though cause oneworld sapphire seemed to mean crap all on QF.
