In all honesty, it is cheaper for you to buy a basic triband phone with SIM card in BKK. In Vietnam and Cambodia, just get a prepaid SIM card.

In the USA, you can get triband phones through Xingular or T-Mobile. Just make sure that the phone is not locked when you put in a different SIM card.
