Which properties from the "big" chain hotels (Starwood, Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, InterConti) do you recommend? I want to use points and therefore non-chain hotels are not on my list.

My main criteria are
1. Beach location: nice sand beach
2. Nice garden/grounds to relax
3. Nice spa (+ gym, indoor/outdoor pool)
4. Good status recognition
5. Good food, maybe lounge

For Oahu I would say Marriott in Waikiki, most of the hotels here are pretty poor and in need of rennovation so this is best of a bad bunch. It has the advantage of being across the road from the beach. There is also another marriott in waikiki but this one doesnt have balconies, otherwise this ould get my vote
For Maui I woul reccomend the Grand Wailea if you have kids, the marriott if you dont (great prices for this on priceline) the pools at grand wailea are unmatchable
For Kauai I would reccomemnd the Hanalai bay, the rooms are abit tatty but the views are to die for
For Hawaii I would stay at the four seasons... but that would blow your budget somewhat.. bear in mind the location of the volcanic parks there as they are a 4 hr drive from some of the resorts which could be a pain if you want to watch the lava flows...
