No, you paid for transit from Point A to Point B. You got that.
They are a aeronautic transport providor - and air based transport is what they provided you.
Yes, seatbelts are required, and they
should have provided you one, but alas there was not one made available to you. It didn't harm you, and you're surely not going to be in therapy because of it.
If you were "not happy to be undertaking the riskest part of the flight without a seat belt", may I ask why you didn't disembark before the flight left your origin?
If you get in a taxi and realise that it smells, has rust holes, etc, you get out straight away and don't travel in it. Most people flying have their seatbelts fastened before the doors close and the plane pushes back, meaning you probably realised that there was an issue before you left. You conciously decided to fly.
