Sure, I am happy to share my experiences.
I started a new job with a large multinational corp on 5/12/04. Throughout the year I had a reasonable (well, unreasonable actually) number of flights to AKL to support a particular platform.
I also made a trip to SYD and a trip to MEL out of pocket, plus several trips to AKL out of pocket (flexi saver). Predominantly, I am a business traveller to AKL and HLZ, with only four international trips this year: WLG-AKL-MEL r/t, WLG-AKL-SYD r/t, and WLG-AKL-LAX-YYZ-YOW-YUL-LAX-AKL-WLG; and WLG-AKL-NAN r/t after qualifying.
A few work trips (6 out of 60? flights) were smart saver, so non-AP earning. Then at the last minute I had a trip to YOW which earned 270 odd A$ r/t. Work does not pay for biz, period, so everything was done in economy except where I upgraded to business.
2005 segments was 73, by my count. 72 of those were on NZ/*A, and one on QF.
This year I will be lucky if I requalify for NZ*G due to the travelling profile changing, but I'm hanging out for one long haul which would guarantee it. We'll see what happens.
