Of course they do - but they're not interested untill you have at least 900 status airpoints dollars (then they'll shower you with benefits at least three times better than the one's you got as Silver).
Apparently there are too many Silver members to offer priority check-in and luggage handling, so until there is an uprising of the Silver's...
