Hi,

My fiancee's working in Saudi Arabia RUH and i plan to buy her a ticket to go home to KUL. The carrier of choice usually is Saudiair, just because it's the carrier to offer nonstop RUH-KUL flights. Unfortunately, the dates which she wanted to fly are sold out, so we are down to scrounging around other carriers for reasonably priced alternatives.

Using the slew of online travelsites, I found that there seems to be a lot of Air India flights available, rather cheaply. The downside is that she will have to connect at Mumbai, arriving at 9.30pm and departing at 12.15 midnight. I've done some googling and found that (a) Air India can be a rather unpleasant carrier (b) Mumbai airport can be rather confusing/unsafe for a lady traveling alone. However, I'll like to hear any opinions of FT-ers around if they would have other experiences (good/bad ones) to share about both Air India and Mumbai.

I'll probably end up buying her a CX flight, even though the dates are not optimal and she'll lose a few days leave...
