I want to know if there is a penalty for changing carriers on Star Alliance award tickets after ticketing.

I've searched about this on few United websites, but all of them don't mention regarding that certain case.

While the award fee page says flight chage is free, I'm not sure if it also includes carrier change.

Detailed rules about Star Alliance award tickets would be appreciated.
