I agree that the cost savings associated with the Menzies move have probably been more than erased by the effect of bad PR.
While I'm sure that the media is reporting every detail, I don't believe that they are over-reporting. Incidents like the hole in the side of the plane are quite serious. That could have let to a serious accident (which it fortunately did not).
Because of this and generally stingy availablity of lower fares, I have decided to fly other airlines for the moment, until AS gets its act together.
