If the flight is AS-marketed and operated (i.e. an AS flight number on AS metal), then the seats are given by AS. And, as DuckFlyer correctly notes, AS gives these only to full-fare passengers (and AS elites) before the day of the flight.

Thanks for the clarification. Being the Air Whore that I am, I've never flown a non code share flight. As scuh I always get the prime advanced seat assignements.
