FWIW - a quick SAA/UA update.

As most of you know, EQM/RDMs have been earnable on SAA since Nov 1. As of now, no SAA check-in staff are capable of entering UAMP numbers into their computer systems (I tried at CPT, FRA and MPM). They are beginning Amadeus(?) training in March, and from the agents I spoke with, this will begin at Cape Town and roll throughout their system. I am submitting ticket receipts in the next couple of days for credit and will lyk if it works out. SAA believes that they will be integrated in Star by May,06.

A UA source has told me that redemption of UA miles on SAA will begin on March 31st. This means that you can start making award reservations on that date, afaik.

As a side note, flew some C class SA flights this winter and they were *amazing*. Clean, modern, comfortable interiors and excellent in-flight service/product. On the ground, though - they are a nightmare.
