Just to clarify, the rustbucket 732s don't have a better FC/Y ratio. Per Seatguru.com the732s have 8F/ 86Y which is 10.75 Y per F seat. On the 757 there are 24F / 162Y seats which is 6.75 Y per FC seat. This should definitely increase the odds of getting the upgrade.
Also, there are several other advantages to the 757 such as:
-The longer plane means the F section is further in front of the engines which should make for a quieter ride.
-Much bigger overhead storage.
-F cabin is separated from Y by the 2l door and a lav so there is less noise from the ever present screaming baby in the Y bulkhead.
-In flight video.
-Greater seat pitch in F.
