Just to support everything noted above, NRT can be a VERY slow airport to transit from one airline to another once you land. Everything from getting a tug into the gate to the security zones to the inter-terminal bus can jump up and bite you.

I have stopped using NRT for any travel that involves a change of airline and an onward leg for that very reason.
