I went out again on Wednesday night to The Urge, for ... Wednesday (got voted out on the first round; must be rigged ). I arrived at 9:30 PM (contest started at 12:30 AM). I talked to one guy for about half an hour, and then he left. I said hello to another man, and he said hi and then a minute later, took off, with half his beer remaining. I wasn't necessarily trying to hook up, just trying to avoid boredom.
Personally, I don't like The Urge. For me, it's an big, inconvenient schlep to get there, a lot of competition for cabs from hetero girls flashing their boobs, and if it's not happening, then you've got a big hike to get from there to somewhere else where things ARE happening. Obviously, mileage varies from person to person on preferences for places to hang.

More generally, my own opinion is that the operative presumption among most guys who are out (whether it's Tuesday, Saturday or whenver) is that if you are out at a bar, then you are looking to hook up (which does seem to be true - or at least, even if you think you aren't, you wouldn't object if the right guy comes along), and if you are actually talking with someone, then it means you are sexually interested in them.

All the games make you want just to begin a conversation by asking, "are you looking to hook up or looking for a boyfriend?"
