They lack the ability to tap in to the database of previous passports and do not have the physical capacity to print a new one. Get on a bus to Mexico City to get a new emergency passport, and call ahead to see when they can receive you at the embassy. If it would be easier, you could try the consulates in Guadalajara or Monterrey. Good luck!
Thanks... what we are trying to do is not have to go to Mexico City....as I understand it is a real zoo to try and get anything done at the Embassy... one CO CSR said he has enough documentation to be able to board and if we wanted she would put a note in his record to indicate the lost wallet...as I understand the real "key" is a police report.
