I thought I left my house keys in a rental car once. (It turned out that I didn't, but that doesn't matter.) The rental office had a drawer full of keys that had been found in returned cars and whose owners couldn't be identified by anything attached to them. They said they mail back what they can and keep the rest (apparently indefinitely) in case someone comes looking.

And now back to porn in hotel rooms, which is more interesting...
