So, officially it is no problem, but I have never tried to give a W-ticket back, so no practise experience. However, maybe it helps to refer to this booking page.

I e-mailed my friend the link to this page with your answers, he was really impressed and needless too say, he thanks you a lot! Not being a *frequent* flyer he had no clue. Who knows how many other innocent passengers treat the taxes and charges to the airlines! And those must be the big majority.
