The general consensus will be, I guess, the Peninsula over the Banyan Tree.

www.tripadvisor.com has a good selection of reviews of Bangkok Hotels.

The general public who review for this site currently rate The Pen as the number 1 hotel in Bangkok. I've stayed there in the past and its superb.
