Weekends will be more heavy with cruise ship pax in and out of Florida .. and again most of those will be booked in coach
It is not a 'business travel' day where you will be trumped with a lot of EXPs heading out/back on business.
You first asked for one upgrade . then you say you need two upgrades. THAT will become even harder to accomplish .. What will yo do if you clear and friend does not???
In looking at FLL on 4/6 there are A-fares (upgrade with miles) open on the SlaveShips (757s) and also the 737. There are not many Z fares (award First) but a few. You might consider miles upgrade for yourself and free/miles upgrade for your traveling friend.
MIA has a couple A fares on the 763 but not many Z fares .. and the SlaveShips are also running lower.
Looking at seat maps for FLL and MIA on 4/6 .. most flights are VERY lightly booked at present .. again we know the inaccuracy of seat maps . but its at least a starting point.
Its really a hard decision to make knowing that flights have been running so very full lately. I do not fly mid-week so it makes it hard to make a specific comment.
I guess it all depends on how much of a gambler you are (and how many stickers you have). Of all days .. Wed is 'better' .. the choice will be normal service on the 757/737 or the sleepers and improved service on the 763 .. I think MOST top-tiers will know the better features of the 763 so that may be more difficult (one per day from MIA) ... this would be the more pleasant option and others know it to!
Very hard to tell! Taking another Wed that is closer to look at (1/11) .. I would say PLT looks poor on the FLL trips. While the 763 from MIA looks 'decent'. Maybe that is the 'telling' point .. other flies prefer FLL also and hate MIA!
I was checking flights to MIA ex LAX for June and it seems like the 763 is GONE- forced to fly single aisle- Am I mistaken???
