AF claimed that the reason they cancelled the flight was related to equipment problems. I think KLM made the same claim.
Delta claimed that they cancelled the flight due to PASSENGER safety. That makes absolutely no sense to me. I don't think that they consider themselves responsible for the safety of their passengers after they have succesfully delivered them to their destination. Concern for crew safety makes more sense, after all, they don't get to choose which flights they work (or do they?)
Alitalia supposedly has rearranged their schedule so that their flights arrive and leave during the day and their crew doesn't stay overnight in Israel. That would work for KLM and AF, but obviously not for DAL on JFK-TLV.
The Deputy Transpot Minister spoke today on Israel Radio and called ("unofficially") on Israeli citizens to boycott AF and DAL for canceling their flights. Sounds like a mess.
