About 25 years ago I got stopped for "speeding" in Ensenada in Mexico. It was at night, raining, I was following a truck and there were potholes large enough to swallow the car. The officer said I was speeding and to follow him back to the station. At the station I was fined the equivalent of about $5 in pesos. I paid with a large note and got my change. I then asked for a receipt . The cop and his superior found the Underwood and pecked out a receipt in about 10 minutes on an official form. They handed me the receipt and my change again! I made money on the deal, and I still have the receipt.
