Does UA really place British Cabin Crew in F/J and U.S. crew in Y?

Over the past three months or so, I have not seen a single U.S. FA on any LHR-ORD, LHR-IAD or ORD-LHR, IAD-LHR flights.

I commented on this to one of the FA's on UA 959 LHR-ORD yesterday and she told me 1) that a lot of people have been asking that lately, and 2) that most of the U.S. based crew work the Y cabin.

so... is this true?, merely a coincidence?, an FA pulling my wankker?, what?
If it is true, is it not an odious practice, reminiscent of some fairly unpleasant practices of the past?
