In the final 6 months of 2004, I had roughly 50 nights in Marriott properties. I called to inquire about the rolling upgrades and they instructured me to submit a request for upgrade when I had 75 nights within a 12 month period. In February, I accumulated the necessary nights and sent an email to [email protected] requesting the promised upgrade. They immediately upgraded me to Platinum, effective through the end of 2006.

So, from direct experience I can tell you that they upgraded me based on rolling 12 month history, but I had to manually request the upgrade. I would suggest submitting a request via the email listed above as that is what worked for me. Good Luck and be sure to let us know the outcome.
