Too late for the OP but perhaps someone else may benefit. Many of those restaurants are "cash only" establishments but if you love Italian, it's the place to be.

Thayer Street is my preferred place, although parking is metered. Not hard to find in the area but on Thayer itself can be hard to find. Kabob and Curry is good if you like Indian and there's a conveniently-located Ben & Jerry's at the uphill end of the block (and half a block to the right).
