Seriously, though. There's a difference between negligence and complaining, and it's not a binary relationship between Delay and Death (or Cake).

Also, the ambient temperature was above freezing by then (it was freezing overnight and early morning, not so much by noon). The plane needed de-icing. Formation of *new* ice would have been very slow, if at all. So I'm thinking they could have de-iced earlier. Get rid of the ice already there, but not much worry about new ice forming.

And in any case, the computer screw up took up the most time (I'd say the bulk of the delay was caused by that), followed by the thru-baggage thing (which added 25 minutes of delay at LHR for me), followed by the de-planing of the suspicious person (which I freely admit wasn't bmi's fault. ...or was it?). The de-icing took 15-20 mins to do.
