i flew out last week from london gatwick from newark but going back would like to consider upgrading to first class. have no miles on continental as i normally file american so i am not looking for some free comp upgrade or anything like that. just looking to find out if there is a way to get a reasonible priced upgrade.


we are flying back tomorrow on jan 1st.

i called contental and they wanted 4k per ticket to do the upgrade. I know going out to london coach was full and they were offering cash for people to take a later flight. i was told that this flight was full in coach also. i would imagine that there might be some way to upgrade to first class at a reasonible price or is the one way to upgrade at a reasonible cost is if you have status?
