The problem is with the Continental visa. Dates are always blocked and if I want to use their miles on Delta flights it is almost impossible. Not enough award seats.
Another problem is that not all US businesses accept Amex. Some require Visa or Mastercard, so my Delta Amex is not accepted everywhere.
I charge all of my business and personal expenses to the Amex (phone, grocesseirs, internet etc.)..
I have the DL Amex, CO MC and UA Visa. (I know I'm paying 3 fees! I may eliminate the MC, as it is a duplicate esentially.)
All of my "double mileage" charges (supermarkets, gas, wireless phone, etc...) go on my Amex. Whenever they have an "everything double" bonus offer (which is very often these days!
), I again use the Amex. For everything else, I either use the VI or MC, or when Amex is not accepted.

With DL or CO, I can use any airline in Sky Team. With UA, I can use any *A airline. So I am (and you are) not just limited to 1 airline.
