We eventually wound up traveling in Norway by car in mid to late September. Got about 1/3 up the western coast - to Alesund. It is cold - even in September - and there is permafrost once you get a bit inland. We didn't encounter any winter blizzards - but we did have snow. We had a good time - but being on a boat in that weather wouldn't have been my idea of a good time. Robyn
