At least you get some sort of response. I get nothing again and again, and I am really a patient guy sometimes. I guess I should have a better attitude around Christmas, and give UA a break

I would think they would more than welcome someone WANTING to use their airline, or maybe they think they have enough customers.
I need to book my 1/5 Shanghai trip, maybe I'll use them anyway, and put a refundable ticket on their books.
