The above is fine, HOWEVER for me personally I would NOT insist the hotel combine the folios into one.
Reason: On two ocasions ( within the last 6 months, yet) when I had two separate folios, I was able to get by having the HH Service Center post one of the stays : Stay credit for both, Night credit for the total of both folios, plus AA Miles and rental car points for each.
If there is even an outside chance that the above might happen again I will not do things differently
