Changi is really not that big. If you arrive at the first gate in T2, take two steps over in the 'wrong' direction and you're in T1. Everything is airside - no crossing of immigration required.

You might want to consider reading the SQ forum, lots of information there for transit pax. I've never stayed at the transit hotels so I can't really help you.
