Our very first cruise was on Holland America in 1998 (Alaska) and paid for with MR points. I doubt it was the best value of points - I was a neophyte back then. But, it did give us an introduction to the joys of cruising and we have taken several cruises since then.

I would have liked for MR to retain this option.
