There's very little room for error of depending on the day staff passing messages to night staff to ensure that the person doing wake up calls does it. At the designated time, the phoine would ring and its a computer that tells you reminder call or something to that extent.

In the Hilton forum, i do know that sydney Hilton has this wonderful phone system that automates the wake up calls such that the moment you enter it onto the computer phone, it makes the call at precisely the time of the phone. and then calls every ten 10 minutes or so until you wake up and pick up the fone. The pain is that if you do not pick up the fone, the phone will continuously ring and annoy your neighbour and guest services have to physically pick up the fone to stop it from ringing. I think its pretty cool...

Perhaps someone could suggets at the next renos of starwood hotels that they upgrade their phone systems.
The best automated systems (which I've seen only at Hiltons) even come with snooze buttons (i.e. "Press 1 for another call in 10 minutes."). Just like home ...
