That actually makes some sense - "Hey, the CHO flight is getting WX CANX, grab that plane for CRW".
I honestly don't think this is the situation. If it was, then why didn't they immediately tell us that CHO was a WX cancellation? The CHO was scheduled to leave 30 minutes after CRW, and they didn't announce it was a mech delay until 10 minutes before scheduled departure.
