Is this your first trip to Hawaii? If so, is there a reason you need to stay on Oahu? The reason I ask is that of the four Islands I've visited (Oahu, Maui, Kona & Kauai), Oahu was (for me) probably the least-interesting and most-crowded. For what it's worth, I could easily spend an entire week on Kona (the Big Island, with the Volcanos)... there are so many things to see & do, and the most-interesting things there are either free or pretty inexpensive.
Unfortunately, it's more expensive to fly to Kona... packages to Oahu tend to be the cheapest. But if I were rating the various Islands in terms of a relaxing, tropical, not-like-home experience, I'd go-
#1: Kauai
#2: Kona (the Big Island), very close behind Kauai
#3: Maui (nicely varied, but more crowded than Kauai or Kona, and seems designed to extract money from you)
#4: Oahu
Those are
my preferences, strictly as an outsider. Slippahs is the expert though.
