The new official standby or move up policy is ludicris because:
*It makes no mention of dealing with a pax who wants to take a later flight than ticketed on. Example, booked on the 6AM, and want to go at noon;
*They try to collect the $25 even if you want to go standby on a flight where there are open seats. E.g. officially they will not put you on standby if open seats, only confirm you for $25.

I imagine the reason they are getting away with this is that the flying public is too stupid to understand it, or doesn't care. On other airlines like UA you can go standby any time the same day earlier or later for no fee, or you can get some kind of same day confirmed for $25 at the airport. On Delta they have same day confirmed with in 4 hours of any flight, and they waive the $25 fee for top flyers. Can anyone tell me how US's policy is an advantage or even competetive? And Jetblue has the best system, you can standby any time the same day for no charge plus:
*If you book the first flight out in the morning, you can standby for no charge on the last flight out the night before; or
*If you book the last flight out of the night, you can standby on the first flight the next day at no charge.

The only saving grace is that a lot of this US AirwaysBS is just academic. As in the ops post, they may elect not to charge you the $25 at the airports discretion. I can tell you for sure that if I were hit with all these $25 fees I would rarely if ever fly on US Airways.

I have been totally unimpressed by what they have done post merger. I don't think we are better off at all, and probably somewhat worse off due to this new program not addressing taking later flights. Also there have not been any good promotions I have been able to get during all of 2005 except the 20th anniversary one, and none have come out since the merger.

Due to this I have moved much business to UA.

If I am missing something, and things are somehow better, pls let me know and explain in detail?

I guess too I figured Doug and the PHX gang were more customer friendly than CCY, and I don't see any more customer friendly initiatives coming out of PHX?
