Now my blood is really boiling. On Thursday, I was in PIT. Scheduled on the 6 PM to PHL. Meeting is going to end early, and I attempt to get on the 4:35 flight. The secretary at the office where I am meeting calls US to change flights for a number of us. She tells me that US is telling her that there is a $100 change fee...and a $507 fare differential ! I tell her no way am I going to pay this. (I already paid $442 for this overpriced route).
I then tell her to call them again and give my CP FF #. (Thinking this might make a difference). She calls.....then comes in the meeting to tell me that it made no difference.
I get to the airport at 3:00...go to the counter to check in. Once again, I'm told there is a $100 change fee and a fare differential to be paid.
It now seems pretty obvious to me....the employees of this airline have NO CLUE as to what the fare rules are. It seems to be make it up as we go along.
In retrospect, I should have called the CP desk personally to get this handled correctly. But that doesn't solve the problem of employees that are giving out mis-information...especially those at the check in counter !
