I usually like to do my own arrangements (I'm one of those "special" PITA travellers that agents usually hate) but we were cashing in some Neiman Marcus points and so we used their Virtuoso agent (based in Dallas).
She booked a very complicated package to Europe and South Africa, and made optimum use of our points, mileage rewards, and $$. (and I'm not even sure she got much of a commission on some of the items)
We got top notch treatment from tour guides, hotels, etc. Plus detailed intineraries and contact phone numbers to leave with family at home.
