Thanks!
If it comes down to Sal & Carvao vs. Fogo de Chao, Fogo is better. However, unlike Phil Vettel, I think Brazzaz is on a par with Fogo for the following reasons: 1. Chope (brazilian beer) - Brazzaz has it, while Fogo does not; 2. More seafood options (including raw oysters, shrimp, salmon and maki). Some other churrascarias I've eaten at include:
Marius, Leme, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - If there were a championship of churrasco, this would be the winner. Superb seafood (including nigiri, maki and more), exotic specialties (frog's legs) and gorgeous decor make this restaurant the measuring stick against which I judge all churrascarias.
Carretao, Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - Good selection, but less seafood and less formal than Marius.
Brasil Steak House, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - No chope, but great Mexican beer. The automatic glass doors separating the two dining areas slow the gauchos down a bit, and the meat selection is a little limited, but this place is a great deal for the price.
Carnivore, Gauteng, South Africa - Located between Johannesburg and Pretoria and a little hard to find at night. Serves beef, chicken, pork and lamb. Also serves giraffe, impala, ostrich and crocodile. No chope. The food was good but a little slow. The circuses (decor and the Zulu warrior who greets diners) are great.
Green Fields Churrascaria, Allston, MA - Nice selection, including chicken hearts and nigiri, but it was awaiting a liquor license when I ate there so only virgin caipirinhas were available. Lunch is only half-price on Monday through Thursday.
Midwest Grill, Cambridge, MA - Equivalent to Green Fields in meat selection, but no seafood. It does have chope and also live music.
Rodizio Grill, Denver, CO - Like Fogo with slightly less attentive service. No seafood, no chope. Very convenient location to downtown.
Samba Grill, Salt Lake City, UT - Like Rodizio Grill with even worse service. No seafood, no chope. Convenient to downtown. The only churrascaria I would not visit again.
Boi na Braza, Dallas, TX - Neck and neck with Fogo de Chao in quality of food, selection of meats and beautiful restaurant decor. I used to wonder if two competing churrascarias could survive in the same area because Boi na Braza and Fogo are fighting it out in the Buckhead area of Atlanta.
Now that the Churrasco Wars have begun in earnest here in downtown Chicago (3 restaurants in about 9 square blocks), I still wonder.
