Hi, I understand that AA will sometimes match status with UA, so I called and the CSR informed me that they don't offer status matching anymore and was offered the challenge

Has anyone here been successful in getting AA elite status match (gold or plat) from existing UA status? Just wondering if I should try the "call center merry-go-round game" or just go for the challenge.
