I stayed at the Marriott in 2004 and 2003, and the Pearl Continental (PC) in 2004 and 2002. Although, as iluv2fly points out, many of the rooms at the PC are small, I prefer it to the Marriott - has more charm and I found the service to be excellent.

FYI, the Marriott used to be a Holiday Inn property while the PC used to be an Intercontinental. The PC is an older property than the Marriott but has been renovated extensively.
